Thucydides〔Thuc (2.17.1 ) 〕 and Aristophanes〔The Birds (play) 832 〕 call it "''Pelargikon''", "Stork wall or place". The Parian Chronicle〔line 60〕 mentions that the Athenians expelled the Peisistratids from the "''Pelasgikon teichos''".
